Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026. This page describes how Archerogue actually handles data today, plus how advertising may work in the future.
1. Introduction
Archerogue is a browser game at archerogue.com. You can play without creating an account. If you choose Google sign-in, we use Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore to attach optional Cloud Save, rankings, a nickname, and community posts to that account. This policy explains what stays on your device, what is stored in the cloud, and what we do not store.
2. Information stored on your device
The game uses the browser’s local storage to keep a save on this device. That save includes gameplay progression (gold, rubies, emeralds, lobby training, best survival time, rebirth progress and upgrades, lifetime statistics, and career enemy defeats) and device preferences (sound on/off, volume, and language).
If you have used Cloud Save, the browser may also keep a small local note about the last signed-in account and when a sync last succeeded, plus a cached copy of your ranking nickname paired with that account. These notes help the game reconnect after a refresh; they are not a second public profile.
The browser’s session storage may briefly hold a snapshot of guest progress during the first Google sign-in, so that progress can be offered to a new account or restored if you cancel before finishing nickname setup. That snapshot is temporary and is cleared when the handoff finishes or is cancelled.
We do not use the game itself to collect your real name, postal address, or payment card details. There is no in-game checkout.
3. Google login / authentication
Sign-in is optional and uses Google’s sign-in popup through Firebase Authentication. Google authenticates you and gives the game a session. The identifier we use in our own database is the Firebase user ID (UID). Cloud Save, ranking, and nickname-claim records are stored under that UID (as the document ID for save and ranking records).
Google may process your Google account identity as part of authentication. The game’s Cloud Save and ranking documents do not store your email address. They also do not store your Google display name or profile photo. In the game, the name shown on rankings and the board is the nickname you choose in Archerogue, not your Google account name.
4. Cloud Save
When you are signed in, progression can be written to Firestore under your UID. The cloud document holds a progression snapshot: gold, rubies, emeralds, training levels, best survival time, rebirth fields, lifetime statistics, and career kills, plus a schema version and an updated time. Sound, volume, and language are kept as device settings and are not the fields uploaded as cloud progression.
Guest play without sign-in does not create a Cloud Save document. Signing in on a device that already has cloud data loads that cloud progression rather than overwriting it with a weaker guest file.
5. Rankings
If you set a nickname while signed in, we store a ranking record keyed by your UID. That record includes your chosen nickname, a normalized form used to keep nicknames unique, your best survival time, your career enemy-defeat total, a timestamp related to nickname changes, and an updated time. A separate nickname-claim record maps the normalized nickname to your UID so another account cannot take the same name.
Ranking lists show nicknames and scores. They do not show email addresses. Nickname changes are limited by a cooldown after a successful change.
6. Community board
Board posts are stored in Firestore. Each post includes the author’s UID, the nickname snapshot at post time, the message text, the game language locale for that feed, and a created time. Posts are shown with that nickname. You can delete your own posts. We do not attach email addresses to board documents.
7. Cookies and advertising
Archerogue may display Google AdSense advertisements in the future. Ads are not active on the site as part of this policy’s current game build. When ads are enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Ads may be personalized or non-personalized depending on settings, region, and consent.
Where required (for example in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), we plan to use an appropriate consent mechanism such as Google’s certified consent management platform when AdSense is turned on. We do not operate a separate homemade cookie banner today.
You can read Google’s advertising and privacy materials, including how Google uses information from partner sites, on Google’s own policy pages (search for “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”).
8. Third-party services
The game uses Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) for optional accounts, Cloud Save, rankings, nickname claims, and the board. Google provides those services under Google’s terms and privacy policy. If AdSense is added later, Google advertising services will also process data as described in Google’s advertising documentation.
We do not sell your save data or nickname to data brokers.
9. Data retention / user choices
Local save data remains until you clear this site’s storage in the browser or use the in-game full reset (which clears local progression on this device; signed-in reset behavior follows the game’s reset flow and does not delete your Google account). You can stop Cloud Save from this device by signing out; signing out clears local progression on this device while leaving cloud and ranking data on the server until you contact us with a deletion request or we delete unused data as part of ordinary operations.
You can stop using Google sign-in at any time. For questions about your cloud data, use the Contact page.
10. Children
Archerogue is a general-audience game. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children for marketing. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the board or an account, contact us so we can review it.
11. Changes to this policy
If how we store or use data changes in a meaningful way—for example when AdSense goes live—we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the site after an update means the new policy applies from that date forward.
12. Contact
Privacy questions can be sent to support@archerogue.com or through the Contact page.
